The famous watchmaker Donald de Carle, in his book Complicated Watches and their Repair, remarked that IWC's special automatic winding mechanism was "a simple and ingenious system, well constructed and beautifully finished."
IWC built this watch in 1961 at the same they were building their famous Ingenieur line. It is full size with a 35mm diameter, one millimeter smaller than a mens Datejust.
It has been restored and presents beautifully on the wrist - just short of mint. The soft 18K back is heavily dented.
The dial is a perfect refinishing. We believe the case to be original, although the restoration work has removed the markings from the back. The lug retains its original hallmark.
As part of the restoration the movement has been freshly overhauled and is running very true.
Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
