Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik is a name that echoes through the boxing halls of history and the streets of Youngstown, Ohio. Born and raised in this hardworking steel town, Pavlik embodied the grit, determination, and blue-collar toughness that define Youngstown. With a powerful right hand, relentless pressure, and an unbreakable will, he carved out a legacy that cemented his place among boxing’s greats!
Pavlik’s defining moment came on September 29, 2007, by defeating Jermain Taylor to become the undisputed WBC and WBO Middleweight Champion. Overcoming a brutal second-round knockdown, he stormed back to stop Taylor in the seventh round, proving that heart and perseverance could triumph over adversity. This victory made him the first undisputed middleweight champion from Youngstown since the legendary Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini.
He left the sport with a record of 40 wins, 2 losses, and 34 knockouts—a testament to his power and dominance in the ring. Today, he remains an influential figure in boxing and in our community, inspiring the next generation with his story of perseverance and success.
